Roman Twardy

Roman Twardy (* in Berlin ) is a German teacher and choir director . He has directed the Wiesbaden Boys Choir since 2001 and the St. Bonifatius Choir in Wiesbaden since 2019 .

Life

Twardy was a member of the Kiedricher Chorbuben . He studied music history, school music and composition at the Mainz University of Music and choral conducting at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin.

For 20 years he was a music teacher at the Oranienschule in Wiesbaden, which included leading a theater group, an orchestra and teaching strings. Since 2018 he has been a teacher of German and music at the Schloss Hansenberg boarding school .

Twardy has been the director of the Wiesbaden Boys' Choir since 2001 , with which he performs concerts, concert tours and recordings. Under Twardy's direction, the choir recorded the first recording of Johann Mattheson's Passion Oratorio Das Lied des Lammes in 2005, which was thought to be lost. In 2009, Twardy selected works from the 16th to the 21st century for a CD to mark the 50th anniversary of the choir, including compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Johannes Brahms , Robert Schumann and Sylke Zimpel . In 2010 he led the choir in concert with Handel's Messiah in the Marktkirche Wiesbaden , with the soloists Elisabeth Scholl , Andreas Scholl , Andreas Karasiak and Florian Plock. During Advent the choir performs regularly in Wiesbaden churches such as St. Bonifatius and Christ Church. In 2013 the boys' choir received the culture award of the state capital Wiesbaden .

Since 2019, Twardy has been the successor to Gabriel Dessauer interim choir director for the Choir of St. Bonifatius in Wiesbaden.
