Roman Anton Franz Wäger (born February 20, 1963 ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who won the Swiss championship four times with the EHC Kloten . He was also three times the best Swiss scorer in the National League A . In 561 missions he scored 334 goals and 260 assists . With 65 goals he is the most successful playoff scorer .

Career

Roman Wäger began his career at the age of eight at EHC Kloten , to which he remained loyal for 27 years. In 1979 he made his debut at the age of 16 in the National League A against EHC Biel . From 1980 he was a permanent member of the first team of the EHC. In 1993 , 1994 , 1995 and 1996 he became Swiss champion with the team four times in a row .

Shortly before the end of his career, he qualified for the 1998/99 season at HC Thurgau in the National League B , but returned to his home club for the playoffs. In 1999 he ended his career and took over his father's business in Kloten with his brother after completing a master's degree in sanitary installation .

International

Roman Wäger was part of the Swiss national ice hockey team for many years and has played in several world championships . He made a total of 100 international matches for Switzerland.
