Romans Sauss (born June 27, 1989 in Krāslava ) is a Latvian volleyball player . The national player won national championships and cup competitions in different countries.

Career

Sauss started his career in 2007 at Lase-R Riga . With the club he won the Latvian championship in the first season. He also played two rounds in the European Challenge Cup . In 2008 he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time . In the following season, the outside attacker managed to win the double of championship and cup with the club. The European Cup season ended this time after one round. In 2009/10 Sauss played for Biolars Olaine Ozolnieki and became Latvian champions for the third time in a row; he was also named the best player in the league. He then moved to the German Bundesliga club A! B! C Titans Berg for one season . Country to Wuppertal . At Saimaa Volley, the outside attacker was the top scorer in the Finnish league in 2011/12. In the 2012/13 season he played for EN Gas & Oil Lugano in Switzerland . In the Challenge Cup , the club reached the last sixteen and Lugano won the championship and cup double nationally. After these successes, Sauss went to Finland again. In his first season with Kokkolan Tiikerit, he continued his winning streak by winning the Finnish Cup and second place in the championship. He played internationally with the club in the CEV Cup and Challenge Cup . In 2014/15 Kokkola was represented in both European competitions. At home, the club became champions with Sauss and successfully defended the cup. In the CEV Cup , Kokkola made it into the round of 16 for the first time in the 2015/16 season, which was lost to the eventual finalist ZSK Gazprom-Ugra Surgut . In the national cup, Sauss and his team won the final for the third time in a row and were voted best player. In the league, the team lost only one game and thus successfully defended the championship title. The outside attacker then followed his trainer Tommi Tiilikainen to the German Bundesliga club SWD Powervolleys Düren . In the 2016/17 season he reached third place in the championship with the Düren team. The 2017/18 season ended in the playoff quarter-finals . In the 2018/19 season, Sauss reached the semi-finals in the DVV Cup and the quarter-finals in the Bundesliga playoffs with Düren . He then moved to the French first division club Arago de Sète .
