Challenge Cup 2007/08 (men)

The 2007/08 season of the Challenge Cup began with the first round on September 29, 2007 and ended with the final on March 23, 2008. Pallavolo Modena from Italy won the final in Rzeszów against the Russian club Lokomotiv-Izumrud Yekaterinburg .

The first two rounds were played in the knockout system with two legs. In the third round, the sixteen winners of the second round were joined by the teams that were eliminated in the first round of the CEV Cup . Up to and including the quarterfinals, the knockout system continued with home and away legs. The winners of the quarterfinals qualified for the Final Four in Rzeszów.

Germany was represented by the SCC Berlin and Generali Haching ; in the third round, evivo Düren from the CEV Cup was added. The Austrian teams in the competition were Posojilnica Aich / Dob and Sokol Schwechat . From Switzerland came Chenôis Geneva , Lausanne UC and - as losers in the first round in the CEV Cup - TV Amriswil .

  • The SCC Berlin sat down for a bye in the next two rounds with two wins against Doetinchem and Prvačina by. In the round of 16, the Charlottenburg team were eliminated with two defeats against Olsztyn.
  • Generali Haching lost the first leg of the first round against Kraljevo and won the decisive set after the 3-0 second leg. In the second round, the decision was made again in the "golden set"; this time Haching lost to Aich / Dob.
  • Evivo Düren started in the third round and lost there twice against Beauvais.
  • Posojilnica Aich / Dob reached the third round with a bye and victory against Haching. There were two wins against Amriswil. In the second round, the Austrians were eliminated against Rotterdam.
  • Sokol Schwechat was eliminated in the first round after two games over five sets against Bratislava.
  • Chenôis Geneva lost to Tampere in the first round.
  • Lausanne UC also had a bye in the first round and then progressed against Bratislava. In the third round they lost to Pielavesi.
  • TV Amriswil came from the CEV Cup in the third round of the Challenge Cup and was eliminated by Aich / Dob.
