Romeo Maramigi (born December 19, 1968 in Munich ) is a German DJ , music producer and restaurateur with Italian roots. As a DJ he is known by his stage name DeeJay Romeo.

Life

Maramigi was born in Munich in 1968, where he also spent his childhood. He was fascinated by the new techniques of deejaying, which was just emerging in the late 1970s, from an early age. Romeo made his first steps as a DJ in the Freizeitheim München-Neuhausen , where a kind of children's and Youth disco took place. The first paid appearances as a DJ were in 1984 in the then legendary clubs EAST SIDE and California, where he quickly made a name for himself with his skills. At this time, the so-called DJ battles developed at the hip-hop jams in Munich, where Romeo was able to further develop his skills as a DJ.

Of particular note: in 1988 he won the first German DJ championship of the Disco Mix Club . Here he was able to prevail against Jens Lissat in the final . This win opened several doors for him and so he was able to produce his first record in addition to a club tour through the largest discos in Germany and TV appearances. In early 1990 Romeo fell so seriously ill that his career as a DJ seemed almost over, but he struggled back behind the turntables. After many stations in the hip-hop camp, he expanded his repertoire to include electronic music and thus helped to establish this style of music in southern Germany. I.a. he got his own radio show on 89 Hit FM in 1994 . From 2009 to 2015 Romeo and his partner Alex Lauder ran the NOX discotheque on the grounds of the Kultfabrik in the Berg am Laim district of Munich.
