Romolo Marcellini

Romolo Marcellini (born October 6, 1910 in Montecosaro , † June 3, 1999 in Civitanova Marche ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Marcellini completed a degree in economics and initially worked as a journalist. In 1934 he wrote his first screenplay; After working for documentary strips, which also took him to Africa, he became assistant director for Gallones Scipione l'Africano in 1937 and shot some scenes himself, such as the battle scene. His documentary La grande olimpiade about the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome was made in 1961 nominated for an Oscar . In addition to his feature films , which often contained documentary elements, he worked as a short film director well into old age .
