history

R-60 Blue wheel

In 1969, Ronal was founded by Karl Roland Wirth in Walldorf, Germany. The name was derived from RON, an abbreviation of his middle name, and AL stands for aluminum. By the end of the year, the wheel range comprised 15 designs. The first wheels were sand-cast by an external partner. In 1970 the first production plant was founded in Forst. The plant specializes in the production of cast light alloy wheels. Due to the very good order situation, a second plant opened in France in 1975. In 1981 the existing factory in Forst was expanded to include two new production halls and an administration building. The well-known French racing brand GOTTI was taken over in 1986.

In 1994 Ronal produced around 2 million bikes a year with 1000 employees worldwide. With the establishment of Ronal AG, Härkingen, Switzerland, became the group's headquarters in 1998. In the same year the first plant was founded in Querétaro, Mexico. In 2007, Ronal acquired the Italian wheel manufacturer Speedline, which covers the segment of commercial vehicles such as trucks, trailers and coaches. At the same time, the group expanded its activities to include racing and Formula 1. With the company SPEEDLINE TRUCK, newly founded in Italy in 2010, the product range is expanded to include forged commercial vehicle wheels.

In 2012, Ronal took over the majority stake in Fullchamp, Taiwan, a specialist in forged wheels. In 2013, the Ronal Group and the Australian company Carbon Revolution brought the first one-piece carbon bike to the European accessories market. With the takeover of APP-Tech from Padova, Italy, the group expanded its capacity in the field of forged wheels. In 2016, the Ronlog logistics center was opened in Forst, Germany.

In 2019 the RONAL GROUP celebrates its 50th anniversary.
