Ronald Ulen

Ronald Ulen (* 1956 ) is an American opera, lieder and concert singer ( baritone ).

Life

He first studied economic policy and finance. Ronald received his vocal studies from Minnesota State University and Florida State University. This was followed by studies in directing and opera management. His singing teachers were u. a. Warren Hettinga , David Wingate , Jean Kraft , Josef Metternich , Frederic Milnes and Weldon Thomas . The artist attended master classes with John Wustmann , Martin Katz , Sherrill Milnes and Robert Merrill .

After his vocal training he made his debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte . Numerous engagements in the USA followed. He sang the great roles of his subject, including Malatesta in Don Pasquale , Figaro in The Barber of Seville , Mr Fluth in The Merry Wives of Windsor and Marcello in La Bohème . During the 1990/91 season he worked at the Zurich Opera . This was followed by engagements at the music stages of Coburg (1991–1994), Schwerin (1994–1996), Mainz (1996–1998) and Augsburg (1998–2000). Guest performances in opera and concerts have taken Ronald Ulen to the stages and concert halls of Vienna, Rome, New York, Chicago, Washington, Hamburg a. a. m.

The artist has been working as a freelancer since 2000. He is also a professor of singing at Texas State University.
