Weldon Thomas
Weldon James Thomas (born September 6, 1929 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American opera singer ( bass ).
Life
Weldon James Thomas studied singing at Trinity University in San Antonio with John Seagle and at the Vienna Conservatory with Sergey Radamski . He also took singing lessons a. a. with Enzo Muschezini , Kenneth (Ken) Neate and Josef Metternich . Engagements took the artist to the music stages of Graz (1959–1961), Detmold (1961–1963), Bielefeld (1963–1965), Bonn (1965–1974), Gelsenkirchen (1974–1977) and Augsburg (1978–1991). He sang as a guest on the opera stages of Venice, Naples, Munich, Stuttgart, Berlin, Cologne, Seattle etc. alongside Waltraud Meier , Anneliese Rothenberger , Deborah Sasson , Deborah Polaski , Hans Sotin , Peter Hofmann and Jeannine Altmeyer . The artist was also a sought-after song, concert and oratorio singer. In this regard, he mainly performed in and around Augsburg and in the USA.
Thomas Weldon, married to a German woman since 1966 and father of two grown children, is still active as a singing teacher. Ronald Ulen and Fritz Gschwendtner were among his students .
