Ronnie Blackman

Ronald "Ronnie" Henry Blackman (born April 2, 1925 in Portsmouth , Hampshire , † February 16, 2016 ) was an English football player .

Athletic career

Blackman first played for Gosport Borough before joining Reading FC in 1946 or 1947 . Until 1954 he ran for the third division in the third division , in which he was top scorer with 39 goals this season in the 1951/52 season. The year before he had scored 35 goals this season. He scored a total of 158 goals for the "Royals" in the championship, making him the top of the club's eternal best list for league goals.

Then Blackman played a season for Nottingham Forest in the Second Division , in 1955 he moved on to the third division relegated Ipswich Town . After returning to the Second Division in 1957, he ended his career in league football a year later and subsequently ended his career in non-league football with the Tonbridge Angels .

Until his retirement, Blackman worked full-time as a telephone technician.
