Helmut Koller

Helmut Koller (born June 13, 1959 in Graz ) is an Austrian diplomat . He was consul general in Munich .

Helmut Koller attended high school in his native Graz. From 1977 he studied law at the Karl Franzens University of Graz (doctorate to Dr. iur. 1982) and graduated from the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna .

In August 1984, Koller joined the Austrian foreign service. It was used at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna until 1987 , then in Prague (Czechoslovakia) until 1989 , in Helsinki (Finland) until 1994 and then returned to the office in Vienna. From 1997 he acted as deputy head (first assigned) in Bern (Switzerland) , from 2001 in the same position in Oslo (Norway) .

In 2009 Helmut Koller was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Lithuania , based in Vilnius (Wilna) (letter handed over on September 14, 2009). During his term of office, the Golowatow case fell in 2011, a political affair over Austrian asylum for an ex-KGB officer wanted by the police in Lithuania. When he left, the brief dissatisfaction was no longer an issue.

Since August 12, 2013 he has held the office of the Austrian Consul General in Munich ( Germany ). In this role he was an important liaison officer in the refugee crisis in Europe from 2015 . On the Austrian-Bavarian border, especially around Salzburg , but also Passau and elsewhere, the migration flows caused numerous bilateral issues to be clarified.

Helmut Koller's term of office in Munich ended in December 2017.
