Andrea Wicke (born March 19, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian diplomat and music actress.

Andrea Wicke grew up in Steyr in Upper Austria. She studied German and history in Vienna , and at the same time singing and piano at the music academy and acting and operetta at the conservatory .

For several years, Wicke appeared as an actress, operetta and musical singer, for example at the Salzburg State Theater , the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Vienna Volkstheater .

In 1994 she completed a postgraduate course in international studies at the University of Vienna and entered the diplomatic service. Shortly after the end of the war she worked at the embassy in Zagreb (Croatia) , then in Prague (Czech Republic) , in Sofia (Bulgaria) and then in the Foreign Ministry in Vienna .

At the beginning of November 2006 Andrea Wicke became ambassador in Vilnius (Vilnius / Lithuania ), where she accompanied the joint cultural capitals of Vilnius and Linz ( Linz09 ). From 2009 she acted as ambassador in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia , co-accredited in Brunei Darussalam ).

Since 2013, Wicke has been employed again at the Foreign Ministry in Vienna , where she is responsible for relations with the countries of sub-Saharan Africa , cooperation with the African Union  (AU) and the African regional organizations (Head of Department II.6). On September 26, 2018, she was appointed Austrian ambassador to Bulgaria.
