Ronnie Bowlby

Ronald Oliver Bowlby (born August 16, 1926 - December 21, 2019 ) was a British Anglican clergyman .

biography

Bowlby graduated from Eton College and Trinity College, Oxford . After his ordination as an Anglican priest, he first worked as a curate at the parish of St. Luke's, in Pallion, Sunderland . He then served as a priest in St. Aidan's Ward, Billingham and Curate in Croydon until his elevation to the episcopate.

Bowlby was Bishop of Newcastle from 1972 to 1980 and Bishop of Southwark from 1980 to 1991. Bowlby was an official member of the House of Lords in his capacity as Bishop of Newcastle and Bishop of Southwark from 1976 until his retirement in 1991 as Spiritual Lord .
