Root4 ( spelling : ROOT4 ) is a German band whose style can be classified as Future Pop .

Band history

Root4 was founded in 1990 by Hauke Hein and Gunter Hommrich in Aschaffenburg . Two years later the first album, 24 , was self-published, the name of which can be traced back to the Steinberg Pro 24 sequencer program . The first public appearance took place in 1993, when ROOT4 appeared on stage at a music competition in front of around 300 visitors with only computers, samplers and synthesizers. They took third place and started recording their second album The Word in Mass , which was released that same year. In 1999 the EP Follow Me ep was released. The recordings were made in the Tunefish Music recording studio , as was the case with the album In Your Life , which was released three years later .

Since the end of 2006 the band has developed from synth pop to future pop . In 2008, the fourth album was imagination published on the label Sonic Boom Records. In 2012 two remix albums were released, on which different DJs and bands presented different titles from the album Imagination .

In 2013, Root4 took part in the UBANCO Underground Band Contest and took second place. In 2014 and 2015 the group performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen (2014) and took part in the Electronic Transformers Tour 2014 and Electronic Transformers Tour 2015 . This was followed by further appearances as a supporting act for Combichrist , Ost + Front and Stoneman in Germany and Russia.

In September 2016, keyboardist PoupéeNoire announced that she had involuntarily left the band. Two days later, Hein stated that PoupéeNoire and Martin Matyssek were "no longer there due to discrepancies [...]".
