Stoneman is a metal band founded in 2004 from various areas of Switzerland. With the release of their fourth album in 2014, the band made a style change from English-language Dark Rock to New German Hardness .

history

After Mikki Chixx and Rico H decided to start a band in spring 2004, they quickly found some like-minded people. Despite several changing bass players, the original formation of the band Stoneman was established. In 2005 the demo Rough Demos and Unofficial Bootleg was recorded, which in addition to studio material also contained four live recordings, which were recorded at the second Stoneman concert as support for Within Temptation . Various concerts at home and abroad and two small independent European tours as a warm-up followed. In May 2006 Stoneman went on tour through Europe with Impaled Nazarene and Master . Since bassist Vanja, now with Triptykon , injured her wrist, she left the band. The bass was initially controlled electronically by Dave Snow, who played as a keyboard player for the band. The departure of guitarist Poxy was replaced by the new member Mr. Fly . In June 2006 Stoneman signed a record deal with the German label Twilight .

On October 20, 2006, the debut album Sex Drugs Murder was released , in which Sabine Dünser contributed the vocals for Devil in a Gucci Dress and Protect Me . The video for Devil in a Gucci Dress was shown on various TV stations such as MTV and VIVA. In autumn 2006 Stoneman were on tour with the Deathstars . At the beginning of 2007 Dave Snow switched to bass, whereupon the keyboards are played by a sampler. Another European tour followed in May 2007, this time as a headliner .

On September 14, 2007, the second album How to Spell Heroin was released , which was again produced by Dave Snow. It received conflicting discussions. While on the one hand it was perceived as a significant improvement on Sex Drugs Murder , others criticized the songs, which were always structured according to the same pattern.

In 2008 they performed at one of the biggest festivals on the alternative and black scene , the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. Tours with the German rock band Xandria and the glam rocker Wednesday 13 followed, with the latter recording a feature song on the third and heaviest album to date, Human Hater . In 2011 the band signed a management contract with the industry giant ICS Festival Service GmbH and the music publisher Enorm Music.

In 2014, Stoneman released their fourth and so far only album, Goldmarie , sung entirely in German , which was released on the leading Düster label Danse Macabre and Bruno Kramm. The band made it onto the front pages and poster inserts of specific music magazines for the first time. The band was able to book a place 4 entry in the German Alternative Charts (DAC). In 2015, Stoneman was the opening act at the "Terlingua" tour of Mono Inc . Stoneman also performed on the main stage at Wacken Open Air , as well as other festival shows.

Just one year later, the successor "Stones" appeared, which brought Stoneman even more success and placed itself in the alternative charts again. With the album in their luggage, Stoneman also managed to perform their first headliners in full clubs in 2016. At the turn of the year, the tour brought them the Innocent Award for “best live band 2016”.

After the release of the third German-language album "Geil und Elektrom" on Massacre Records , the band played at the Wacken Open Air after playing at Rock the Ring 2018 in the previous year .
