The Rootes Point is a headland on the east side of Signy Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It marks the entrance to Starfish Cove to the north .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it 1991 (1951 *) by David Michael Rootes from the British Antarctic Survey , who as an assistant for Marine Research was active between 1977 and 1979 on Signy Iceland and from 1981 to 1984 as head of Signy Research Station acts had .
