Rosa Bouglione was born on December 21, 1910 in the Cirque d'hiver . She began her career as a dancer at a young age. Her prime role was the so-called snake dance with the lions . On July 4, 1928, she married Joseph Bouglione (1904–1987). The wedding took place in the lion cage including the lions. At first the pastor wanted to enter it, but Joseph pointed out that it was too dangerous for him. Then the pastor trusted the couple from outside. She has a total of 53 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Bouglione family has owned the Cirque d'hiver since October 28, 1934. Today most of her family is in the circus business. In 1991 Sandrine and André-Joseph Bouglione founded the circus Cirque Joseph Bouglione , which is currently the only traveling circus in France.
