Rosais is a Portuguese parish ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Velas , in the Azores . 743 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).

history

In the course of the settlement of the island of São Jorge from 1460, the place Velas was created, which received city rights around 1500. Further settlements emerged outside of the area, and from the mid-16th century Rosais was a separate municipality in the Velas district.
