Rosamund Agnes Greaves, 11th Countess of Dysart (born February 15, 1914 - December 17, 2003 ) was a British peeress and from 1975 to 1999 a formal member of the House of Lords .

She was the eldest daughter of Major Owain Edward Whitehead Greaves († 1941) and his wife Wenefryde Agatha Scott, 10th Countess of Dysart (1889-1975), born. After the death of her mother, she inherited the title Countess of Dysart on June 2, 1975 . The title dates from 1643 in the Peerage of Scotland . This dignity is one of the few earldoms that can be inherited in the female line due to a special succession regulation in the Letters patent .

She was unmarried. When she died in 2003, she was living on Bryn Garth Farm in Grosmont , Abergavenny , in Monmouthshire , Wales . She died in December 2003 after a brief illness at the age of 89. The funeral ceremony took place on December 23, 2003 in the Stobo Kirk.

Her younger sister Katherine Greaves, 12th Countess of Dysart (1918-2011) , became the heir to the title .

Membership in the House of Lords

Due to the Peerage Act 1963 , her title was linked to a hereditary seat in the House of Lords . However, like her mother, she never took up her seat in the House of Lords. Her right to a hereditary parliamentary seat was abolished in 1999 by the House of Lords Act 1999 , which formally ended her membership in the House of Lords.
