Rosdorf observation point

The Rosdorfer Warte, which is now forested

The Rosdorfer Warte was a control station near Rosdorf in the district of Göttingen , which was built between 1380 and 1400. The control room did not belong to any Landwehr platoon or system of land forces, but was purely a surveillance station for a radius of 5 to 15 kilometers.

The watch tower was dismantled in the 19th century. All that remained was an artificial hill surrounded by a wall and a ditch , the so-called Zingel , on which the watch tower stood. Today, a stone with an information board on a neighboring farm road reminds of the former control room. According to the Lower Saxony monument protection , it is a cultural monument .

From this point of view, the Wartberg near Rosdorf got its name.
