The København – Malmö railway , also known as the Öresundbahn ( Danish Øresundsbanen , Swedish Öresundsbanan ), runs over the Öresund connection and connects Copenhagen Central Station with that of Malmö .

Travel time

After the opening of the Malmö City Tunnel on December 4, 2010 and the regular start of operations on December 12, 2012, the journey between the two main stations will take between 36 and 40 minutes.

electrification

East of the Öresund Bridge in Lernacken is the system separation point between the Danish power system with 25 kV 50 Hz alternating current and the Swedish power system with 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz alternating current. West of the Öresund Bridge on Peberholm is the system separation point between the Danish and Swedish ATC signaling systems .

Train operation

The local traffic called Öresundståg over the Öresund Bridge as well as the InterCity traffic Copenhagen- Ystad (with connection to the ferries to Bornholm ) operated since January 10, 2009 DSB First with trains of the type X31K / ET . DSB First was a subsidiary of the Danish State Railways and the British FirstGroup .

The Swedish SJ uses SJ X2 trains in the Stockholm - Copenhagen route and SJ X31K / ET trains in the Gothenburg - Copenhagen route.

In freight arrive at DB Schenker Rail dual-system locomotives of the series RSC EC and 185 and HectorRail the series 241 are used.

On 11 December 2011, DSB First with the acquisition of the Swedish routes by Veolia in DSB Øresund renamed.
