The Rose Peak is a 655 m high mountain on King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises 3 km southwest of Rea Peak and 5 km northeast of the Ternyck Needle in the center of the island.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the cutter Rose of the British whaling company Samuel Enderby & Sons , which was crushed by the pack ice at 60 ° 17 ′ S , 53 ° 26 ′ W as escort of the schooner Hopeful in late 1833 or in January 1834 . The crew was recovered alive.
