Rosemary Edghill , maiden name Eluki Bes Shahar (* 1956 ) is an American fantasy - and science fiction - writer and editor . She adopted her pseudonym as the official name in 2004 .

biography

The publishers of her first novel convinced her that her maiden name was detrimental to sales in the English-speaking world, and so she called herself Rosemary Edghill from then on. Her sister, a reference librarian , publishes under the name India Edghill.

When asked who influenced her (Rosemary Edghill) writing, she replied:

"Too many to count. Damon Runyon and Mark Twain, for use of language. CL Moore and Eric Frank Russell, ditto. For storybuilding and sheer artfulness, John Le Carre. For language (again!) Margaret Atwood. For a great story, which is the First Thing in my book, John D. MacDonald, Peter O'Donnell, Ian Fleming, Leslie Charteris, Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett (and we're back to the language thing again). Kipling. Poe. Clark Ashton Smith Robert E. Howard, Robert A. Heinlein, Lovecraft. For that matter, I think I owe as much to the great editors of SF's silver age as to the writers, so here's to you: John W. Campbell, Groff Conklin, and Damon Knight. "

"There are too many to count. Damon Runyon and Mark Twain for word choice and language skills. Likewise CL Moore and Eric Frank Russell. John Le Carre for plot structure and level of complexity. Margaret Atwood for their language For a good action that is always a priority for me, it is John D. MacDonald, Peter O'Donnell, Ian Fleming, Leslie Charteris, Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Kipling, Poe, Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard , Robert A. Heinlein and Lovecraft. And of course I owe thanks to the great authors of the silver age of SF, namely John W. Campbell, Groff Conklin, and Damon Knight. "

Edghill also worked with well-known colleagues such as Andre Norton , Mercedes Lackey , and Marion Zimmer Bradley .

Edghill lives in upstate New York with her cats and King Charles Spaniels . She trains her dogs and displays them on Obedience - competitions .
