Building
The station designed by the architects Duplessis, Labelle et Derome was created using an open construction method . It has two storeys over almost its entire length, which gives it a spacious impression. The walls at the level of the bridge-like distribution level are bevelled, resulting in an octagonal floor plan. The walls and pillars are covered with tiles in orange and brown tones. The main entrance can be found in a slate-colored pavilion ; this is supplemented by canopies under which there are several bus stops.
The platform level with two side platforms is 11.6 meters deep . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 746.10 meters to Laurier and 541.10 meters to Beaubien . There are connections to six bus routes and two night bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal . The Montreal Carmelite Convent is located nearby .
history
The station opened on October 14, 1966, along with the Place-d'Armes - Henri-Bourassa section of the orange line. Rosemont is part of the basic network of the Montreal Metro. It is named after the Boulevard de Rosemont. This name goes back to the broker Ucal-Henri Dandurand, who bought extensive land for the construction of a marshalling yard on behalf of the Canadian Pacific Railway and released a small remainder for residential construction. He named the resulting settlement Rosemont, after his mother Rose Phillips.
