Beaubien (Metro Montreal)
Beaubien is a subway station in Montreal . It is located in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie arrondissement at the intersection of Rue Beaubien and Rue de Saint-Vallier. Trains on orange line 2 run here . In 2006, 3,380,245 passengers used the station, which is 27th among the 68 stations on Metro Montreal .
Building
The station designed by Roger d'Astous was created as a tunnel station and impresses with its retro architecture with many curved lines. The distribution level also has an oval instead of the usual rectangular plan. Where the platforms meet the distribution level, the transition is accentuated by an ellipse. The walls are clad with gray tiles and granite, and irregularly shaped stones are embedded in the floors. The entrance pavilion has an elongated shape, the sloping roof has cliffs . Bus stops can be found under an awning along the entire building.
The platform level with two side platforms is at a depth of 12.5 meters . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 541.10 meters to Rosemont and 712.10 meters to Jean-Talon . There are connections to four bus routes and a night bus route operated by the Société de transport de Montréal .
history
The station opened on October 14, 1966, along with the Place-d'Armes - Henri-Bourassa section of the orange line. Beaubien is part of the basic network of the Montreal Metro. Name giver is the Rue Beaubien, named after an important French-Canadian landowner family of the 19th century.
