Rosenbauer Simba

The Rosenbauer Simba is a large airport fire engine from the Austrian manufacturer Rosenbauer International AG . It was specially developed for the requirements of Frankfurt am Main Airport , but is not only used by the local fire brigade , but also by other airport fire brigades , such as the one in Munich .

The Simba 8 × 8 weighs up to 45 tons and is based on a four-axle chassis made by Titan Spezialfahrzeuge with four axles from Kessler + Co. It is driven by two Liebherr motors with 4800-SP retarder torque converter transmissions from Allison Transmission .

With a displacement of approx. 31,400 cm³, the Simba achieves an output of up to 919 kW (1,250 PS). The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 80 km / h in 25 seconds and reach a top speed of 125 km / h. The vehicle's extinguishing water tank has a capacity of 11,600 liters, plus two foam compound tanks each with a capacity of 600 liters . The vehicle also carries two tons of extinguishing powder . In order to dispense these extinguishing agents, the Simba has a foam-water cannon on the front of the vehicle and on the vehicle roof as well as a rapid attack device and a powder cannon on the front of the vehicle.

The Simba 8 × 8 HRET is also based on an air-sprung four-axle chassis with all-wheel drive from Titan. Its water tank holds 12,500 liters. In addition, it has two foam compound tanks of 750 liters each and an extinguishing powder supply of 500 kg. This vehicle is equipped with an extinguishing arm that can be used to dispense water, extinguishing foam and extinguishing powder from a height of up to 15 m. There is another water cannon at the front of the vehicle and a rapid attack device in one of the equipment rooms. This vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 80 km / h in 21 seconds and has a top speed of 140 km / h.

The Simba 6 × 6 is the small version of this vehicle type and was equipped with a three-axle chassis from the former manufacturer Eisenwerke Kaiserslautern (EWK). This accelerates from 0 to 80 km / h in 23 seconds and reaches a maximum of 125 km / h. Its extinguishing water tank holds 8,500 l, its two foam compound tanks hold 500 liters each and its extinguishing powder supply is 500 kg.
