Rosenhang Museum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rosenhang Museum is a museum for contemporary art that opened in June 2017 in the central Hessian town of Weilburg an der Lahn . It was founded by the couple Antje Helbig and Joachim Legner, co-initiator was the international gallery owner Michael Schultz (Berlin) , who is also the chairman of the Nassauisches Museumverein Weilburg. The museum is located on the three floors (2000 m²) of a partially rebuilt historical brewery building , the former Helbig brewery, and houses the Legner collection. This includes works by contemporary artists working in Germany, such as Christopher Lehmpfuhl , Cornelia Schleime , Elvira Bach and SEO as well as Gerhard Richter , Markus Lüpertz and Stephan Balkenhol .

The Rosenhang Museum shows contemporary art in its exhibitions with a focus on artists from the region. Young and internationally important contemporary artists have a permanent forum there, such as Marios Siakantaris (2019), Hans-Hendrik Grimmling (2018), Cornelia and Moritz Schleime (2018), Dieter Nuhr (2018), Huang He (2017) and Annette Merrild ( 2017). Old masters should form the focus of special shows. The declared aim of the museum is to bring contemporary art to the province, but to appeal to art lovers nationwide.
