Rosenthal is a place in the Bretnig district of the Saxon city of Großröhrsdorf . The Rosenthal is located on the old road from Bischofswerda to Radeberg , about one kilometer south of Bretnig on the south and east slopes of the Galgenberg (320 m).

At the beginning of the 17th century, a farm is said to have been located here, which was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War . When the place was repopulated at the beginning of the 19th century predominantly with cottages , it was given the name Viehweghäuser or Fiebigh houses . This name was used to refer to the nearby cattle ponds belonging to the Bretniger manor. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the name Rosenthal was used for the armory of the manor on the left side of the Röder and the cattle path houses.

It is questionable whether the unspecified place Rocina from 1071 in Burgward Trebista can be connected to the Rosenthal settlement.
