Rosmarie Holland (born December 23, 1935 in Westphalia ) is a German Protestant theologian , founder of women's associations and author .

Live and act

Rosmarie Holland grew up in Westphalia and studied Protestant theology . She was chairman of the Collection of Confessing Evangelical Women (SEBF) founded in 1978 , which ceased its work at the end of 2002. She asked its members to become involved in the Biblical Women’s Work Group (ABF), which was founded in 1987 to create work materials for Christian women’s work. Holland helped shape the work of the “Filia - Christian Forum for Women” association as well as the SBEF, which arose as a reaction to the influence of the 1968 movement on education and the family, initiated the Württemberg Forum for Missionary Women and further developed the breakfast meeting for women .

She also became known as a critical companion of the World Day of Prayer . In their opinion, this has developed into a politically emancipatory action. She criticized showing solidarity with Palestinian women or, in 1982, the “prayer to mother earth” at the official World Prayer Day liturgy. This led in 1997 to the fact that the German Prayer Day Committee, based in Stein near Nuremberg, threatened legal action against "manipulations in a way that distracts and distorted the meaning". Holland saw an alternative to holding evangelical women's prayer meetings as part of the annual Alliance prayer week .

In order to invite women of different denominations and countries to pray together, she published work aids with supplementary materials for the official World Prayer Day liturgy.
