The Ross Point is a low headland in southwest of Nelson Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is 3 km southeast of Harmony Cove and marks the southeast entrance to Nelson Strait . At the same time, it is the southeast boundary of the entrance to Varvara Cove .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1935. They named it after James W. Ross, a map-maker in the Hydrographic Office of the British Admiralty . There is a risk of confusion by name with the Punta Ross headland on the northwest side of the Trinity Peninsula in Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula .
