Punta Ross ( Spanish ) is a headland on the northwest side of the Trinity Peninsula in Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It forms the southern boundary of Unwin Cove south of Toro Point . Sotomayor Island is in front of it immediately to the southwest .
Chilean scientists named it after the British polar explorer James Clark Ross (1800–1862), who led an Antarctic expedition from 1839 to 1843. There is a risk of name confusion with Ross Point in the southwest of Nelson Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands .
