The Sotomayor Island ( Spanish Islote Sotomayor ) is an island off the northern coast of the Trinity Peninsula at the northern end of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in front of the Punta Ross headland , the southern limit of the entrance to Unwin Cove .
Participants of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951) named them after Lieutenant Victor Sotomayor, officer on board the ship Lientur on this research voyage .
