Roswitha Emonts-Gast (born November 13, 1944 in Schreiberhau , now Poland ) is a former Belgian athlete .

Athletic career

The 1.72 m tall Roswitha Emonts guest from the Eupen Athletics Club was Belgian champion in the 80-meter hurdles in 1965 and 1966 , and in 1970 and 1972 she won the 100-meter hurdles . In 1968 she was long jump champion with 5.78 m, in 1971 she won the title in the high jump with 1.70 m. She won the pentathlon six times : 1963, 1964, 1967, 1970, 1971 and 1972.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, she finished 30th with 3654 points in the pentathlon . She had lost her chances of a good placement with three invalid attempts in the high jump. Two days after the pentathlon, she also took on the 80 meter hurdles and was eliminated as seventh of the fourth heat in 11.4 seconds.

In 1971 she competed in the high jump at the European Championships in Helsinki and finished 27th and last in the final with 1.60 m after 27 of 35 jumpers had jumped over 1.73 meters in the qualification. Two days later she reached 16th place in the pentathlon with a personal best of 4578 points.
