The non-profit association Rote Hose Darmkrebsvorsorge e. V. (in its own short form: ROTE HOSE ) based in Kleve was founded in summer 2014 by Petra Thomas and six other founding members.

aims

The association has set itself the goal of creating awareness of the early signs of colon cancer , especially among younger people , and of providing information about effective preventive measures for the elderly. In addition, taboos are removed from topics such as bowel movements , cancer and colonoscopy .

symbol

Detected early, colon cancer is curable. In order to spread this vital information, the red trousers were based on symbols such as the red ribbon against AIDS and the like. Ä. created.

As a central symbol against colon cancer, the red trousers are intended to refer briefly and directly to the preventive and early detection message.

Board

Rote Hose Darmkrebsvorsorge eV is a registered non-profit organization. The board consists of Petra Thomas (1st chairman), Hans-Joachim Sinke (2nd chairman) and Anita Sinke (treasurer). Currently (as of 11/2016) the association consists of 30 members as well as numerous supporters who organize educational campaigns on a voluntary basis. 

Activities and projects

Die Rote Hose collects donations and thus starts viral online and print campaigns as well as advertising campaigns in public toilets. Information stands and the distribution of educational material will also be organized to spread the message. The board of directors also gives lectures, gives interviews and appears on TV.
