Rothe Bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rothe Bridge was a historic road crossing over the Schwarzwasser north of Johanngeorgenstadt on the Poststrasse from Schneeberg to Karlsbad in the western Ore Mountains . Among other things, one could get to the Rabenberg and Schießhausberg over the bridge . The bridge was damaged several times by the floods and had to be repaired at the city council's expense.

When the Schwarzenberg – Johanngeorgenstadt railway was built in 1883, the Rothe Bridge was demolished and a level crossing was built near it, not far from the gas works and the Glück Auf Stollns hat house . However, this transition was eliminated without replacement when the railway line was expanded to two lanes in 1950.
