The Rothenburg model is a joint conception between the city of Rothenburg / Oberlausitz , the district of Görlitz , practicing doctors and the Martinshof Diakoniewerk Rothenburg, which is dedicated to medical care in the district of Görlitz as a structurally weak region.

idea

The Rothenburg model represents a synergy between the interests of young doctors and offers from the region and city of Rothenburg in Upper Lusatia . The focus is on integrated cooperation between the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital Dresden , the city of Rothenburg, the Martinshof Diakoniewerk Rothenburg and other partners. The core of the model is the “4 + 1 model”, in which doctors are paid in full above the tariff, but only practice four days a week. The fifth day of each week is free to work on a doctorate at the University Clinic Dresden.

The cooperation with the city of Rothenburg as well as local doctors and institutions offers an offer that enables young doctors who have completed specialist training to ensure general medical care in a structurally weak region and at the same time to work scientifically. The Rothenburg model was developed by the management consultant Andre Henschke.

resonance

After its presentation, the Rothenburg model was awarded the Innovation Prize Germany - Land of Ideas by Federal President Horst Köhler. The Rothenburg model is a partner project of the Carus Consillium, which was initiated by the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital. The Rothenburg model is seen as a reference model for cooperation between public and private stakeholders. It is an example of a way to provide medical care for structurally weak regions.
