Giuliano Sarti (born October 2, 1933 in Castello d'Argile , † June 6, 2017 in Rome ) was an Italian football player and coach .
Career
society
Sarti began his career in paid football in 1954 with the Fiorentina , for which he played 220 games. In 1963 he moved to Inter, where he made 148 league games by 1968. He ended his career in 1969 after ten more games for Juventus Turin .
Sarti achieved his greatest successes at Inter Milan under coach Helenio Herrera . As goalkeeper of the Grande Inter , he formed the legendary triumvirate Sarti - Burgnich - Facchetti together with Tarcisio Burgnich and Giacinto Facchetti in the sixties , which was the most important support for Inters Catenaccio .
With Inter, Sarti won both the European Champions Cup and the World Cup in 1964 and 1965 . In 1967 he was appointed to a world team that played against Spain on the occasion of Ricardo Zamora's 65th birthday .
Sarti won three Italian championships, 1956 with Fiorentina, 1965 and 1966 with Inter. He was Italian cup winner in 1961 with Fiorentina. In the same year he won the European Cup Winners' Cup with this team , but had to give way to his teammate Albertosi in the double final.
National team
In the Italian national team, Sarti came only eight times between 1959 and 1967 because he had a strong competitor with Enrico Albertosi . He played the first two qualifying games for the European Football Championship in 1968 . On November 26, 1966 in Naples against Romania (3-1) and on March 22, 1967 in Nicosia in the 2-0 win against Cyprus, where captain Giacinto Facchetti scored the goal in the 88th minute to make it 2-0.
Sarti last lived near Florence.
