Rothenseer Bush
The Rothenseer Busch was an alluvial forest in what is now the area of the city of Magdeburg .
It lay east of the shot and west of the village of Rothensee . In the south it reached about to today's Curiestraße .
The forest was first mentioned in a document in 1377 and belonged to Magdeburg's Magdalenenkloster . The Schöppensteg led through the Rothenseer Busch as a connecting road to Rothensee .
In 1803 the forest was largely cut down by order of the provost of the cathedral . The remaining stocks were taken by the French military in 1813 in order to maintain a clear field of fire for the Magdeburg fortress .
Parts of the forest served as an excursion destination for the Magdeburg people from an early age. The Vogelgesang-Park Magdeburg was created in part of the area . Incidentally, the area is used today for residential and commercial development.
