The Rothmoos is a nature reserve in the Nonnenbruchwald (French: Forêt de Nonnenbruch ) in the Haut-Rhin department in Alsace in France . It was established on August 4, 1988 as an area of ​​20.6 hectares and expanded to 145.65 hectares on March 16, 2012. The Rothmoos is mainly in the area of ​​the municipality of Wittelsheim .

The Rothmoos is located in the south of the municipality of Wittelsheim between the village and Route nationale 66 . To the west it borders on an industrial park and a former potash mine . In the north there are two smaller lakes, in the east an extensive forest area adjoins the Rothmoos.

While the southern half of the nature reserve is forested , the north is characterized by a moor landscape , swamp meadows , streams and ponds .
