Roxbury Crossing is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston district of Mission Hill in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the subway line Orange Line .

history

The station opened on May 4, 1987 as part of the renovation and relocation of the Orange Line parallel to the Northeast Corridor .

The underground station has a total of two tracks, which are accessible via a central platform .

building

The subway station is in the Mission Hill neighborhood at 1400 Tremont Street . The building is completely barrier-free .

As part of the MBTA's Arts on the Line project, the work of art “Neighborhood” by Susan Thompson , consisting of five colored canvases, was installed in the station . In addition, there are two granite monuments with engraved texts outside the station (“At Roxbury Crossing” by Jeannette DeLello Winthrop and “Hometown” by Luix Virgil Overbea ).
