Ruggles is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Roxbury district of Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . Metro Station provides access to the subway line Orange Line and the Commuter Rail -lines Providence / Stoughton , Franklin and Needham . Amtrak trains also run through the station, albeit without stopping .
history
The station opened on May 4, 1987 as part of the renovation and relocation of the Orange Line parallel to the Northeast Corridor . It is located at the position of former baseball -Parks South End Grounds of the Atlanta Braves .

The station has a total of five tracks, which are accessible via two central platforms . Two tracks are served by the Orange Line and three by the trains of the MBTA Commuter Rail .
building
The station is located in the Roxbury district of Boston at the intersection of Ruggles and Tremont Streets and on the border of Roxbury , Fenway – Kenmore and Mission Hill . The building is completely barrier-free .
As part of the MBTA Arts on the Line project, several works of art were installed in the station. In "Geometree" by Paul Goodnight is a multicolored mural of ceramics , "Stony Brook Dance" by John Scott is a kinetic sculpture, and "Massachusetts Avenue Station" by Bruce Taylor has three kinetic sculptures made of aluminum . Outside the station there are also two granite monuments with engraved texts ("Harriet Tubman aka Moses" by Samuel Allen and "Four Letters Home" by Will Holton ).

At the station there is a connection to 13 bus lines of the MBTA. The building is located on the campus of Northeastern University . The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum , the Massachusetts College of Art and Design , the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (also accessible via the Museum of Fine Arts station on the Green Line ) and the Wentworth Institute of Technology are in the immediate vicinity .
