Roy Steffensen (born September 10, 1980 ) is a Norwegian politician of the right-wing Fremskrittspartiet (FrP). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

Life

Steffensen grew up in the municipality of Kvitsøy . From 2003 to 2005 he was the General Secretary of the Fremskrittspartiets Ungdom (FpU), and from 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Stavanger City Council . From 2008 he worked as a salmon farmer in his home town of Kvitsøy. In 2011 he became a member of their local parliament, where he was deputy mayor until 2013.

Steffensen entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2013 general election . There he represents the constituency of Rogaland and he was initially a member of the Transport and Communication Committee. In October 2015 he moved to the Finance Committee during the current legislative period. After the 2017 election , he was transferred to the Education and Research Committee, which he became Chairman.
