Roya Klingner

Roya Klingner (born December 30, 1970 in Tehran , Iran ) is an Iranian children's book author, illustrator and director and founder of the Bavarian Talent Center.

Life

Roya Klingner was born in Tehran as the fourth and youngest child of the family . Her father was a general in the Iranian army and her mother was a teacher . In 1977 she was admitted to a school for gifted children under the direction of Iraj Broomand . Her childhood was shaped by the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the 1st Gulf War . In October 1986 Klingner emigrated to Austria . First she started studying medicine at the University of Vienna , but then switched to the Federal Pedagogical Academy in Vienna. Klingner holds a diploma as a Specialist for Gifted Educationfrom the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands . She has lived in Germany since November 2007. On November 1, 2008, she founded the Bavarian Talent Center in Freising, thereby realizing a childhood dream. Klingner was a German delegate to the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (2005–2015). She is a member of the General Committee European Council for High Ability (2012–2014), the International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence , the SENG Liaisons and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
