The Royal Ballet School is a London school with ballet training and is one of the leading ballet schools in the world. It is located at White Lodge , Richmond upon Thames and Floral Street ( Covent Garden ).

history

The Royal Ballet School emerged in 1931 from the Academy of Choreographic Art founded by Dame Ninette de Valois in 1926 . The school was attached to the Sadler's Wells Theater and renamed The Vic-Wells Ballet School . In 1939 it was renamed The Sadler's Wells Ballet School . Since it was awarded the "Royal Charter" in 1956, the school has had its current name, The Royal Ballet School.

The school is divided into two departments: The Lower School for 11 to 16 year olds and Upper School for 16 to 19 year old students. She cooperates with the Royal Ballet London and the Birmingham Royal Ballet . The school is designed as a boarding school and offers not only dance training but also an academic one. Almost all students also do their high school diploma due to their limited career as a stage dancer. In addition to classical ballet, solo dance and pas de deux , the dance training also includes character dance, contemporary dance and English folklore dances such as morris dance .
