Royal Run

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Royal Run is a jogging run (Danish: motionsløb) open to all participants on Monday, May 21, 2018 (Whit Monday) in Denmark to celebrate the 50th birthday of Crown Prince Frederik (May 26).

The run takes place in the five largest cities in Denmark: Aalborg , Aarhus , Esbjerg , Odense and Copenhagen / Frederiksberg Kommune .

Crown Prince Frederik himself takes an active part in the run in all cities in the above order. In Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense he runs one mile (1.609 km) together with the other participants in Copenhagen he wants to cover the long distance of 10 km.

The regular runners can register for one of two running distances in each city: one mile (1.609 km) or 10 km.

The organizers and sponsors of the Danish running event are: Danmarks Idrætsforbund (DIF), Danske Gymnastik- & Idrætsforeninger (DGI), Dansk Atletik Forbund, Nordea-fonden and TrygFonden, as well as the TV station TV2 with many regional stations.

In Denmark there is a long tradition of running a motionsløb (jogging run). For example, jogging runs regularly take place in all Danish schools on the day before the start of the holidays, with different running distances, adapted to the level of ability and age of the students.
