Ru Zhijuan

Ru Zhijuan ( Chinese  茹志鹃 , born September 13, 1925 in Shanghai , Zhejiang Province ; † October 7, 1998 ibid) was a Chinese writer.

Life

Ru Zhijuan grew up in a poor family. After only briefly attending school, she became a member of a cultural group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Shanghai . After 1949 she worked as a trainer for the railroad and as a propagandist in a mine . In 1955 she was discharged from the army and then worked as an editor in a literary magazine. From the mid-1950s she was also a writer herself. She wrote numerous short stories.

Her daughter Wang Anyi (* 1954) is also a writer.
