Rubén Héctor Sosa

Rubén Héctor Sosa (born November 14, 1936 , † September 13, 2008 ) was an Argentine football player . The attacker known as "Marqués" took part with the selection of Argentina in the 1962 World Cup and several South American championships; In 1959 he was with the team South American champions .

Sosa began his career as a professional footballer in 1958 at Racing Club Avellaneda , where he was Argentine champion in the first season . In 1959, 1960 and 1962 he scored the most goals of his club and thus secured the renewed championship in 1962. By 1964 he was able to achieve a total of 81 goals in 141 games for Racing. In 1964 he moved to the Uruguayan League for CA Cerro .

After two years at Cerro, he moved to league rivals Nacional Montevideo , where he made numerous goals in 1967 that the club advanced to the final of the Copa Libertadores . In the final they met their old racing club, but lost after two draws in the two legs in a neutral place in the playoff against the eventual World Cup winner.

Sosa ended his career in 1968 in the NASL with the Boston Beacons , where he scored seven goals and made eight assists in 17 games.

National team

Sosa played 18 times for Argentina between 1958 and 1962, scoring 11 goals. He was part of the squad for the 1962 World Cup, where he was used once, and played at both South American Championships in 1959. In 1960 he was able to score two goals at the Copa del Atlántico .
