Rubén Montoya

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rubén Jorge Montoya Bardetta (born June 18, 1940 in Buenos Aires ), also known by the nickname El Vago , is a former Argentine soccer player in the position of goalkeeper who from 1968 worked for various teams in Ecuador and the American club Miami Toros and played the Mexican club UNAM Pumas .

career

Due to the poor sources, Montoya's stations before 1968 are hardly understandable. In 1968 at the latest he left his home country Argentina and first played for the Ecuadorian club América Quito , with whom he was runner-up in the Ecuadorian league in the 1968/69 season . Then Montoya moved to city rivals LDU Quito , where he was under contract from 1969 to 1971.

In 1971 he moved to the country's most popular club, Barcelona SC , where he spent the 1971/72 and 1973/74 seasons. In between he played for the Miami Toros in the North American Soccer League .

His last station was the UNAM Pumas , with whom he won the Mexican Cup and the Supercup in the 1974/75 season . When the Supercup won against the champions Deportivo Toluca , Montoya, who otherwise often had to give way to his colleague Horacio Sánchez , guarded the puma gate.
