Ruben II (Armenia)

Ruben II. (* Around 1165 ; † 1170 ) was prince of Lesser Armenia from 1169 to 1170 .

Ruben, of the Rubenid family, was the son of Prince Thoros II , at whose death he became heir to the throne, but was still a toddler. His relative (possibly father-in-law) Thomas became regent . Mleh , a brother of Thoros II, with whom he had fallen out, made claims against Ruben . Mleh advanced from Aleppo with an army in Lesser Armenia, conquered Mopsuestia , Adana and Tarsos and attacked the Templar castle of Baghras . Thomas then fled to Antioch and left Ruben in the fortress of Hromkla on the Euphrates to the care of the Catholicos Nerses IV. Schnorhali , but Ruben fell into the hands of Mleh, who had him killed in 1170 in order to succeed himself.
