Rubens de Falco da Costa (born October 19, 1931 in São Paulo ; † February 22, 2008 ibid) was a Brazilian actor and one of the great stars of Brazilian cinema and television.

Life

Rubens de Falco began his career in the theater. In 1955 he was part of the theater group "Os Jograis" with the Brazilian theater actors Ruy Afonso , Italo Rossi and Felipe Wagner . In 1952 he made his cinema debut with the film " Apassionata ". On television he played important roles in popular Brazilian series such as O Rei dos Ciganos (1967), O Passo dos Ventos (1968), A Rainha Louca (1967), Gabriela (1975), O Grito (1975). The characters he portrayed were often villains or gentlemen. In his role in Die Sklavin Isaura (1976) as the morally depraved landlord's son and slave owner Leôncio de Almeida , he became internationally known. With this series he was the first western actor on Chinese television. He played again a powerful landlord and ruthless slave owner as Baron de Araruna in the internationally successful series Sinhá Moça (1986).

In the new edition of the successful series The Slave Isaura he played Don Almeida , the father of his previous role. The Leôncio played in this edition Leopoldo Pacheco .

In May 2006, he suffered a stroke that incapacitated him for the entire year. In February 2008 he suffered a heart attack from which he died.

Rubens de Falco was never married and had no children.
